This is a really old one, and I bet most people have heard it already, but Mac Lethal is definitely one of the best rappers on Youtube. He can rip through lyrics like busta but unlike a lot of people out there you can hear his lyrics and he keeps his flow. Check him out if you haven’t already.
Watsky! I don’t know how I never heard of him until now, but this recent college grad is pursuing a rap career on his terms and seems to be doing alright. Dude has some serious writing talent, check it out.
Loved this past season of the Sing-Off. Due to some copyright issues several of these videos have been removed from Youtube, but I’m sure they can still be found somewhere.
Tyler Ward here with a cover of Super Bass by Nicki Menage. Its nice to hear an acoustic cover of this song, because its so different. Eppic and Alex G do a good job trying to keep up with Nicki’s verses, and Alex has some great harmonies in the chorus. This crew recently went on tour. Tyler has some newer vids including a cover of Moves like Jagger with Katy McAllister, but the rhythm guitar gets a little repetitive. These are guys are really great tho, check em out.
Ahmir is arguably one of the most popular R&B cover artists on youtube. This quartet of gentlemen has a silky smooth sound and often does collaborations with other rappers on youtube including a cover of lighters featuring D-Pryde that recently came out. This cover of Every Tear is a Waterfall by Coldplay has great harmonies and a killer lead so check it out!
Andrew Garcia! If you don’t know him, he was on American Idol a couple years back and has been doing a lot of work in shows and on youtube since then. He came to BU this past year for Boston University’s Filipino student association show Isa, which was a great success. He did this song just as well then as he does now in this video. Great guy, check him out.
There have been tons of good Rolling in the Deep covers but this one is a little different. Mike Tompkins does a capella covers of popular songs by layering himself over and over again. In this video he layers himself into the video multiple times as well. A very cool video technically and musically. Mike Tompkins is a talented arranger and singer. If your into a capella this guy is a great one to check out.
Caitlin Hart has a really clean nice voice. She has a bunch of popular covers up with the help of other youtube star Jake Coco, who not only has a great voice as well but plays guitar, piano, and drums in Catlin’s and many of his own videos. Just an overall good cover here, not too much else to say. Enjoy
